Create Awareness & Connect with Your Community!

Create Awareness & Connect with Your Community!

February 2024

This May the newly designated “National Speech-Language-Hearing Month” will provide an opportunity for not only Hearing Care Professionals, but everyone, to raise awareness about communication challenges. Being a trusted ally who encourages those with hearing loss to seek treatment is a key part of the journey to hearing well.

Starting the conversation isn’t always easy, but Phonak has resources to help you engage with your community and kick start their journey. One key aspect of creating awareness is to emphasize the importance of hearing health. Hearing loss can have a fundamental impact on communicating with others and connecting to them, which is why hearing is vital to overall health and it’s crucial to take action to protect your well-being. Untreated hearing loss can also lead to social withdrawal and depression which is why it is so important to start the conversation now.

Here are some tips on how to spread the word:

  • Update your digital presence. Think about your website first. Because this is where most consumers do their research, your website’s “News” or “Announcements” section is an ideal place to post this material.
  • Social Channels (Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn). Encourage your followers to “Like”, “Share” and “Comment” on your posts to spread the message further.
  • Include a short statement about this awareness month in your front desk greeting and voicemail message.
  • Support existing patients by sending an email newsletter or printed letter about the importance of hearing health and noise prevention. Ask for referrals to family and friends and suggest that they schedule a hearing test to start addressing their hearing needs.
  • Acquire new patients and connect with your community. Use a variety of communications to create a buzz in your local community. Use tactics such as print media in your area news publications or direct mail to your community, introducing yourself as the local hearing expert.
  • As a marketing specialist, Ben enjoys helping providers better reach their community and engage in valuable connections. Favorite sound: the engine noise from an IndyCar going into turn one at Indianapolis Motor Speedway (with Serenity Choice hearing protection, of course.)
